Listener comments 07/07/07

As a former Albany resident, I am excited about the new WEXT. Any opportunity for local music to be played on a local station is another notch in the belt of independent music.

I read in the buzz bin you strive to play one local song per hour every day. Let's raise the bar a little higher. Try to do 2 local songs per hour.

- Matt V.

Guys, I'm so glad you've started this station.  I'm a long time WFUV listener from my time living in NYC to recently online.  I was told I can't listen online at work anymore, so I've been stuck with whatever is
on my iPod.  Now, I hope you guys fill the radio void here in Albany. I've only listened a little bit today in the car, but I like what I hear.  I can't seem to pick up your signal at my house in Albany, but hopefully downtown at work will be better.  Good luck.

- Owen D., Albany

So far so good, guys!  Love it!

- Theresa B., Albany

Finally, I don't have to go north to Rutland or west to Rochester to here the best radio available. Actually, just in your first few hours of existence you're much better than both of those stations. To give you an idea of the demographics you will be playing to, I'm 50 and I turned my 21 year old son onto you. He already said: "It's the only radio station I will now listen to." He was surprised to hear a song by Bright Eyes on the radio. I'm just happy to have a good station in the area. You do need a stronger signal.   Welcome and thank you.

- Joe H.

Great first day!   I've been really excited to have a local station like this.   You'll join my internet radio play list with WFUV from NYC, WFPK for Louisville and KCRW from California.

I've got a big fat check for my membership if you can provide a URL to your stream without the 30 second introduction.

BTW...I actually like DJ's who announce the songs.

Keep up the good work!

- J.P., Albany

(Note:  It's great to be put into such incredible company as WFUV, WFPK and KCRW!  Thanks!)

Congratulations on starting EXIT 97.7!  I'm tuned in from Orlando on your first day!

- Mike C., Orlando

W H A T ! ! ?  I been listening for two, maybe three hours this afternoon and already I hear the same songs??? ... And the mix of songs - from hard to soft to country and techno, all one after the other and without concern for mood or tempo or lyrics (you should call it the blender).

I understand AAA, maybe you should too.

- Michael J.

(Note: We did say we wanted feedback! Thanks, Michael. We're working on pleasing as many lovers of great music as possible. Hope to hear more from you as we grow. PS Michael, we did try to email you back, but your address bounced. All comments are answered, even ones that take us to task. We're happy to converse. You're going to help us build the best radio station EVER!)

This is exactly the type of station that the Capital Region needed!  We love WXPN in Philadelphia and upon relocating to the Albany Area we always regretted not being able to hear our type of music on the airwaves here.  If there was ever a great model it would be XPN.

Sounds like a great first day!

- Rob & Julianne M.

(Note:  Another great comparison!  Thanks.  We hope we can live up to these other great radio stations!  They've all inspired us to listen to radio, too!  Hopefully, Exit 97.7 will inspire your love for great music on the radio.)

I'm really happy about your launch into a new format - this area sorely needs it!

- Mike H.

Nice transition, folks.  What's this anthem playing 12:54-55pm, your first hour?

- Jay B.

(Note:  That song was "Life is Beautiful" by Vega 4, from their CD called "You & Others" - and it appeared on an episode of Grey's Anatomy
last November).

EBF's and The Kamikaze Hearts rule.  If ya dont have any ebf's yet: how about something by Super 400?

- Kimmy K.

Kick in with the jam bands, roots music and alt-country!

- Anon listener

Congratulations on the new station!  And thanks for supporting local musicians...  Kamikaze Hearts is a great way to start!

- Phil H., Rutland, VT (listening via website)

Great idea!  When in NYC, I listen to WFUV.  When in the Burlington area, I listen to WCLX.  Now, we'll have a similar station in the Albany area (if it works out). Best of luck!

- Al C.

13 minutes into the life of the station, and I'm loving it.  Great to have this kind of music to make unpacking in Albany more enjoyable.

- James C, Slingerlands (our very first listener-member!!!   Thank you James!!)

Congratulations on the launch of the new station.  I'm a jazz musician in the area and plan on sending you CDs my group has released.  I'll do my best to spread the word to the local jazz community about the station and the opportunity to have music played on the air. Thanks!

- Brian Patneaude

(Note:  Oh yeah!  Another of our Local 518 musicians who you will hear on this new station!!!  Thanks for the support, Brian.  We think you are
hot!)

I've been listening all afternoon...it's great! I was even surprised several times...songs even I forgot about!! Just heard Matchbox Twenty - Disease. Indeed a song radio has forgotten about completely.

Site looks great too! Congrats again on doing something real!

- Brian B., Latham
